The DFRobot Fermion: TMF8801 ToF Distance Ranging Sensor (20-2500mm) (Breakout, I2C) is a compact time-of-flight distance sensor module for optical range measurement in embedded, automation, and robotics applications. It determines distance by measuring the travel time of emitted and reflected light pulses and covers a sensing range from 20 mm to 2500 mm. With integrated signal processing, the module is suitable for systems that require stable proximity and distance data over a digital interface.
The module is designed for operation under varying ambient light conditions and maintains measurement capability in darkness as well as direct sunlight. Integrated histogram processing and crosstalk compensation support reliable operation when protective cover glass or light contamination effects are present in front of the sensor. The I2C interface simplifies integration with microcontroller platforms and custom control electronics.
