Product Description

Pulse oximetry has been used to detect blood oxygen saturation in blood flow. Because blood oxygen saturation can respond to early medical problems such as heart and lung, this reading is very useful as a universal health monitoring index.

Its working principle is based on the absorption properties of hemoglobin in blood. With oxygen-enriched hemoglobin absorbs more red light than red light, while deoxy hemoglobin absorbs more red light than infrared light. Therefore, the red and infrared LED in the oximeter emits light alternately, and the photodiode receives the light signal that has not been absorbed.

The ratio of red and infrared light obtained by photodiodes is used to calculate the percentage of oxygen in the blood. According to the pulse characteristics of arterial blood flow, the pulse rate and intensity are also determined and displayed during the measurement.
