Product Description

The DFRobot Fermion: VL6180X ToF Distance Ranging Sensor (5-100mm) (Breakout) is based on the STMicroelectronics VL6180X and is intended for short-range, non-contact distance measurement. It uses FlightSense™ technology to measure distance largely independent of target reflectance. The specified ranging distance is 5 to 100 mm, while readings up to approximately 200 mm may be possible under favorable environmental conditions.

In addition to distance measurement, the VL6180X also integrates an ambient light sensor. Communication is handled via a digital I2C interface with default address 0x29. With a supply range of 3.3 to 5 V, the module can be used with common microcontroller platforms and embedded systems. The compact 19 × 18 mm PCB is implemented as a breakout module for straightforward integration into prototypes and embedded designs.
