Product Description

The M5Stack Time-of-Flight Ranging Unit (VL53L0X) is a compact time-of-flight distance sensor module for non-contact distance measurement based on laser pulse round-trip time. It integrates the VL53L0X sensor IC and communicates via I2C using the default address 0x29. Due to the measurement principle, distance readings are less dependent on target reflectivity than conventional optical ranging methods.

The sensor operates with a 940 nm laser wavelength and supports absolute distance measurement up to 2 m. Under normal conditions, the maximum test distance is 120 cm; reaching 200 cm requires Long Range mode and a dark environment without infrared interference. Measurement time is less than 30 ms, making the module suitable for cyclic sensing tasks and responsive embedded applications.
